The Fall Style Edit

By Eleanora Morrison

Sweater weather. It’s wishful thinking during most Octobers in Texas, I know…but a girl can dream. As I sit on my living room couch having set the proper seasonal scene with a faux fireplace crackling on my television, calming classical music serenading me from the vintage record player, pumpkins, gourds and autumn blooms strewn in curated groupings about the house and a sweet seasonal Trader Joe’s candle burning on the coffee table, I’m transported somewhere cooler where the leaves turn, fall and then crunch underneath stylish loafers and boots walking down cobblestone streets and lamp-lined sidewalks.

In this daydream, there’s a smoldering hot latte in my hand, I’m window shopping and I’m holding on to my husband’s arm. Somewhere like…I don’t know, Boston or New York. As an homage to the way I’d love to be dressing this month and next, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite fall style looks, just for the sake of some fresh inspiration and escapism. If you’re like me and you currently live in a climate that doesn’t quite provide a full four-season experience, we can close our eyes and imagine together…

  1. The classic jeans, loafers and camel coat combo:

Tried, true and timelessly chic, no matter what you’re up to, the denim-loafer-camel coat combo will always turn heads. Try accessorizing with a leather tote, a silk scarf and some patterned socks for an added touch of flair.

2. The dress or skirt with oversized outerwear:

Nothing says I’m effortlessly chic like billowy, feminine fabric that flaps behind you in the breeze. Pair your dress or skirt with oversized outerwear for a warm hug that keeps you cozy and comforted in the chilly temps.

3. The wide-leg trouser topped with a chunky knit:

Even if you’re working from home this fall, you can’t ever go wrong with a wide-leg trouser. On days when you’re feeling freedom over form, a chunky knit is the perfect topper to your fashionable sack-like slacks. Accessorize with a vest or coat, and either sneaks, pumps or booties for a finishing touch.
