Makers & Creators: Meet Leatherworker Phillip Kimm of WestEast Armory

Phillip Kimm is the owner and maker at WestEast Armory, a collaborative workshop where he produces his handmade leather goods. Phillip uses traditional techniques and merges a mix of modern and vintage tools when crafting his unique custom leatherwork. His exclusive pieces range from bags and belts to rifle cases and knife sheaths. Phillip has collaborated with several local spots like La Casa Frida, Traveler’s Barbershop, Gray Moon Vintage, and High Street Wine. His goods have been sold in over nine countries around the world.
Why did you choose to create the pieces you made for Limatus Bespoke x WestEast Armory?

To me, it was natural to choose something that complimented the suits that Limatus Bespoke makes. When wearing a suit, Limatus informed me that your wallet should be carried in the breast pocket and not in your slacks, so I took this opportunity to design my personal take on the classic coat wallet.

What is your favorite aspect of the suit Limatus Bespoke designed for you?

I love the leather accents that Limatus and I were able to work on together. The storm tab and pocket flaps in light brown Museum Calf really set the suit apart as a detail you wouldn’t find on any run of the mill suits.
